 Hamara is a well-established community organisation delivering a range of community based services primarily but not exclusively to the ethnic minority communities within Leeds.   The Supplementary School is a youth team project, which has been running for over 15 years. The school runs term-time only and primarily provides children aged 5-11 with study support in English, Mathematics & Science but also provides children with play opportunities, including trips and play schemes as well as celebrating success and achievements.

Supplementary School Key Stage 2 Teaching Post                  4 hours per week

Purpose of Post

To motivate and engage young people aged 7-11 who are underachieving to overcome their barriers to learning. Delivering an intensive scheme of work consisting of interactive teaching and targeted support, as well as engaging young people in activities that will help develop skills, confidence and a love of learning.  The post holder will also ensure outcomes and targets are met, consult with parents and assist with reporting on pupil progress.

Please Note:

Classroom Experience is essential and Teaching Qualification is desired. We will also consider applicants who specialise i.e. Are degree holders, in one of the three subjects English, Mathematics or Science. The above post is a one year sessional worker post, with a salary £10 per/hour.

Supplementary School Volunteers         (Classroom Based)                        4 hours per week

Purpose of Post

We are looking for friendly, motivated and responsible young people that are interested in gaining rewarding classroom experience, working with underachieving young children from ethnic minorities. Classroom based volunteers play a key role in supporting children to overcome barriers and engage with learning as well as providing pupils with advice and guidance to develop skills and confidence. No prior classroom experience is necessary, training and support will be given.

Hamara is committed to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults and the successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and applicant must undergo safe guarding training as part of their induction.
