Hamara is a well established community organisation delivering a range of community based services primarily but not exclusively to the ethnic minority communities within Leeds. The organisation currently has the following vacancy within its youth team.
Youth Development Worker
Hours : 12 hours per week
Salary: £22,212 pro rata
Duration of post: until September 2017
To work towards achieving outcomes and priorities as outlined within the Leeds Children and Young Peoples Plan. This involves developing and delivering programmes and activities to meet outcomes for vulnerable young people and to raise their aspirations. Priority groups include looked after children, young people who are NEET (not in education, employment or training) and improving attendance at school.
Purpose of Post
The post holder will be responsible for developing and delivering a range of targeted youth work programmes and activities for young people aged 13 – 19 years. Key elements of the post include recruiting young people to the programme and developing close working relationships with partner organisations and creating opportunities for young people. The post holder will also ensure outcomes and targets are met and develop monitoring and evaluation systems to assist with reporting to the funder.
Essential criteria candidates must have:
– A recognised youth work qualification at level 3 or above (NVQ, VRQ or degree level) or equivalent
– Experience of developing and delivering youth work programmes in a wide variety of settings
– Experience of working with a diverse range of young people from various backgrounds
– Experience and proven track record of achieving in output and outcomes based targets
