Hamara are looking for Young Muslims from across Leeds, aged 18-25 to become Youth Ambassadors and join our Leeds Muslim Youth Forum. Ambassadors will have the opportunity to organise and partake in a range of initiatives, helping to find solutions to community issues. If you aspire to be a future leader, have the passion to make a difference and want develop your CV and skills, become a Youth Ambassador TODAY!

We will be launching the Leeds Muslim Youth Forum with an exciting weekend residential for all successful applicants.

What is the LMYF?

The Leeds Muslim Youth Forum is all about engaging young people in civic life and breaking down barriers between communities. As well as ensuring young people can express their views, feel heard and are actively involved in decisions that affect their lives.

Leeds Muslim Youth Forum is a grassroots organisation that aims to develop the skills and confidence in young people to become more actively involved within their communities and the city. The forum will help provide a platform and voice for young Muslims and enable our ambassadors to become actively involved in decision making and developing services which meet the needs of their peer group.

Person Specification?

Youth Ambassadors should come from all areas of Leeds, young Muslims aged 18-25 are our specific target, however strong applications from young people outside of this age bracket will be considered.

We are looking for individuals who aspire to;

-Address social inequalities

-Be tomorrows leaders, thinkers, speakers and visionaries

-Motivate others and take a positive role in the community

-Address issues impacting the Muslim Youth

-Be the ‘Voice of Muslim Youth’

What does being an ambassador involve?

As an ambassador applicants will have the opportunity to represent young Muslims from their local area and express views and concerns to key decision makers in Leeds and beyond.

As a member of the forum they will be able to:

-Organise events with the LMYF team

-Receive training on a weekend youth leadership training course

-Run media and activity-based projects

-Become a confident member of the local community

Please Note; Young people are being recruited for the LMYF core team and will be required to attend a minimum of 3 meetings a year! Ambassadors will be working with young people from across Leeds and will also be working with a range of organisations in the city.

What is the LMYF Retreat?

-Venue: Emmaus Centre, Wydale Hall, Scarborough.

-Date: Friday 6th (Leaving Leeds 6pm) – Sunday 8th (Returning to Leeds 6pm)

-Transport: A Minibus will be arranged to do pick ups from 2/3 venues in Leeds

-Accommodation: Segregated dorm style accommodation for males/females

-Food: FREE Continental breakfast/Buffet Lunch and Dinner provided

–All food will be Halal any special dietry requirements can be catered for.

Please note: Spaces are limited, confirmation to successful applicants will only be sent out after the closing date along with more details regarding the retreat.
