Hamara’s Heritage Languages Celebration

On the 18th June, Hamara Supplementary School launched it’s Heritage Languages project and hosted a Languages Event.  12 supplementary schools from across Leeds attended, showcasing the diversity of Leeds and to celebrate and highlight the wonderful work supplementary schools are doing in order raise the profile of home languages.  The event included  performances, ranging from poetry, dance and music and approximately 150 people attended.  photo 1IMG_0662

C.L.A.S.S – Tech north

Excel@ NCL – Nigerian Culture and Language School

GNNJS Punjabi School – Lady Pit Lane

Leeds Chinese Community Mandarin School

Leeds Korean School

M.A.S.T.E.R Supplementary School

Polish Saturday School

Swahili Community Group



The event was also attended by Councillor Jane Dowson (Executive lead for Learning) and the Learning Improvement team from Leeds City Council and 4 Schools were awarded their Bronze certificates from the National Resource Centre for Supplementary Education, including Hamara.

Well done to all those involved in putting on a marvellous event. Also a big thanks to the Hamara Catering Team and Supplementary School Volunteers for for their hard work and efforts  in making the event run smoothly and a big thank you to all the school that attended.
